A Game-Changer for Sole Traders and Contractors Thriday has completely changed how I manage my business finances. As a contractor, I wanted a tool that simplifies accounting, and Thriday delivered. The interface is clean, intuitive, and requires zero accounting or tech expertise to get started. I was able to create and send invoices in minutes, and what truly blew me away was how payments were automatically allocated across different tax accounts using the Profit First method. The “Profit First” and smart Allocation features are hands down my favourites—they take the mental load out of budgeting and make tax time stress-free. Additionally, they continually release new features that genuinely solve problems, rather than adding complexity. You can tell they actually listen to their customers—I suggested adding digital cards and was surprised when it was taken seriously and eventually rolled out. That level of responsiveness is rare. If you’re a sole trader or small business owner who hates admin, Thriday is worth trying. It’s like having an accountant, bookkeeper, and finance coach all rolled into one powerful, easy-to-use platform.

Absolutely loving Thriday for my business! Thriday has been a total game-changer for me. I compared it with heaps of other accounting and invoicing platforms—Xero, Hnry, you name it—and Thriday was the only one that actually ticked every box. It’s an all-in-one app that actually does it all—invoicing, accounting, expense tracking, and now even credit card payments via Stripe! That last update was a huge one for me. A lot of my clients pay with business credit cards, and before, I had to use a whole separate platform just for card payments. It was such a pain, honestly. But now with Stripe integrated, I can finally run everything through Thriday. It’s made my life so much easier. I had a couple of hiccups setting up the new feature, but the support team was brilliant—super quick email replies and everything was sorted in no time. It’s working perfectly now. I recommend Thriday all the time, especially in small biz Facebook groups. People always mention other providers, but I don't think enough people know how good Thriday actually is. The app is easy to use, the subscription is really well priced, and the features are genuinely top-tier. If you're a small business owner in Australia, seriously—give Thriday a go. It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my business.

Who pays the card processing fee?

The fee is passed onto your customer and the transaction fee will be added on top of the invoice total, or you can absorb the fee yourself by providing an invoice discount,

Can I change the payout bank account?

Yes. In Invoice Settings > Invoices > Payment, you can update your nominated bank account. Thriday will sync this with Stripe to ensure payouts are sent to the correct account.

How quickly will I get paid?

If your customer pays by card Stripe payouts are settled to your Thriday transaction account within 2 business days (T+2) after the customer makes a payment.

If they pay by bank transfer the money should be in your account next business day at the latest depending on the financial institute they pay from.

What if I want to stop accepting card payments?

Simply switch the ‘Pay online’ toggle OFF in invoice settings or on the individual invoice. Your Stripe merchant account remains active, so you can turn it back ON anytime without reapplying.

Is card payment enabled automatically on every invoice?

Once activated in your settings, card payments will be enabled by default on new invoices. You can toggle this off for specific invoices.

What happens if my Stripe application is pending or restricted?

If your Stripe account is pending approval or restricted, card payments will be disabled. You’ll see a message in invoice settings, and we’ll email you once it’s approved.

How long does Stripe onboarding take?

Usually just a few minutes. In some cases, Stripe may place the application under review or require additional information, in which case you’ll be notified.

What details do I need for onboarding?

Stripe requires the following information to validate your account: business name, ABN, business owner details and a valid ID.

Do I need a separate Stripe account?

Thriday connects you directly with Stripe during onboarding – you don’t need to register separately on Stripe’s website.

If you already have a Stripe account you can connect that account during invoice setup.

How do I activate card payments on invoices?

When you first set up your invoice template you will be asked if you want to accept card payments. If you do, you will be required to complete some verification steps. Thriday has partnered with Stripe, and you will need to be approved by them to start taking card payments.
